Cyberpunk 2077 Live-Action Project in the Works

A live-action project was announced by CD Projekt Red, the creators behind the game Cyberpunk 2077.

Huge news, CD Projekt Red is transferring Cyberpunk 2077 into a completely new field. There are few details revealed about it, as far as we know, it will be a live-action project – it is unclear if it is going to be a movie or a TV show. We know that it will be made with Anonymous Content, which is a media company that made “True Detective“, “Mr. Robot“, “The Revenant” and “Spotlight“. Looking at those titles, we can expect the highest of quality, and it sure looks that they will do it justice.

Cyberpunk 2077 Movie or TV series in the works

CD Projekt Red Studio wants to make a new addition to a Cyberpunk 2077 world and is working with Anonymous Content Studios’ Head of Television Garret Kemble, Director of Development Ryan Schwartz and Chief Creative Officer David Levine on the live-action project.

They are at the start of their journey as they only begun the search for screenwriters for a new story set in this universe. Garrett Kemble, David Levine, Ryan Schwartz, and Bard Dorros are set to produce for Anonymous Content, with Charlie Scully also joining the production team. AC Studios, a division of Anonymous Content, will be the primary studio for the project. The development will involve a close partnership with the creative team behind Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a big success for the company as 25 million copies of the game were sold so far. With new DLC fresh on the market, those numbers will only rise. The game is known for it’s massive open world, great action-packed gameplay and great narrative that is based on players’ choices, making every playthrough a unique experience. It is set in Night City, which is a futuristic tech hub ruled by mega corporations and robotics-enhanced gangs.

Cyberpunk 2077 is not unknown to Hollywood stars as the lead character in the game – Johnny Silverhand was played by the great Keanu Reeves. In the DLC – Phantom Liberty, Idris Elba joined the crew. As of right now, the expansions has sold 3 million copies. There is also an anime series that is based on the game called “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” that you can find on Netflix.

With CD Projekt Red working closely with Netflix on the anime as well as on The Witcher TV series, it is quite possible that the new Cyberpunk 2077 project may land on the streaming giant hands too.
